What started out 15 years ago as a new venue for Exeter bonsai societies annual show, The Pavilion on Exmouth seafront now sees societies, traders and enthusiasts from all over the South West descend on the 2nd Sunday of June each year for Bonsai South West.
The above tree won the Public Vote for the Best Tree/Display.
Another great show and a relaxed catch up with bonsai buddies.
Another great workshop and a big thanks to John Armitage for this years all day Saturday workshop.
This year there were a range of different trees on the Federation of British Bonsai display and the public were keen to ask many questions about the hobby of bonsai and the trees throughout the day.
As usual Chelsea Flower Show was full of floral delights, sculptures and so much more, here was a gem found on the Suwada stand made from the off cuts of the amazing tools they produce.
Congratulations also to Derbyshire Bonsai for winning a Gold medal at Chelsea Flower show this year. Some very old trees were on display and enjoyed the accents displayed on drift wood style stands.
It was great to be able to visit some of the larger show gardens and displays at Chelsea this year and the purple theme was throughout many of the planting schemes in addition to a good selection of conifers amongst the plantings. Here are a few images of some of the gardens that caught my eye.
This was one amazing Cacti display which won a Gold for Southfield Nurseries and a well deserved one at this. It was blooming beyond anything I have seen before and incredible with the diversity of colour and cacti present, congratulations. A general theme throughout Chelsea Flower Show this year was that of cacti and succulents, and they could be found on almost all displays or stands somewhere which was great to see.
The artisan gardens at this years Chelsea Flower Show were as usual fabulous, and it was great to see Pine trees being used in so many of them as well as the main show gardens.
