Tribute to Arihato

A tribute to Arihato, who was an inspiration to all on bonsai, and here are a few examples of his amazing larch bonsai from the display at the Lodder Bonsai Open Weekend.

Broadleaves @ Shohin UK II Exhibition

The range of broadleaved trees at the Shohin UK II Exhibition 2015 was broad and diverse and the quality of the trees was excellent. Species ranging from Potentilla, through to Berbers, Gardenia, Zelkova, Chinese Elm,  Privet and Quince to name a few.

Sho Ryu Kai Show Shohin & Mame

This show was great. If you like shohin and smaller, you would have loved this show. Sho Ryu Kai is a well established, talented group – as part of Lodder’s open weekend they put on a display and demonstrated just how good the Netherlands bonsai scene is.

RHS Wisley revisited

Always nice to see trees develop and through different seasons. We revisited the collection donated by Herons Bonsai held at RHS Wisley, Surrey. The bonsai garden is simple yet elegantly laid out, with lots Japanese touches thrown in. Next time you are passing, why not drop in and have a look for yourself.

Sho Ryu Kai Show

This show was contained within the Lodders open day, an opportunity for members Sho Ryu Kai group to display their trees. This happens usually twice a year, once in late winter/early spring and the later in the autumn. The group has some very knowledagble members with some beautiful specimens of all sizes of tree.

Evergreens @ Shohin UK II Exhibition

There was a good selection of evergreen bonsai at the Shohin UK II Exhibition 2015 from Junipers through to Black and Red Pines plus Hinoki cypress, Yew and Larch which technically is a deciduous conifer but I have added it into this set anyway.

Bonsai hunting in the Netherlands

What a great weekend bonsai hunting so much to see and buy at the Lodder Bonsai Open Weekend with over 20 traders, exhibitions, displays and activities for all the family.

Shohin UK II Exhibition 2015

The Shohin UK II Exhibition did not dissappoint, it was great to see so many wonderful Shohin, Chuhin and a few Mame on display and there were also some beautiful stands, particularly the root stands as well as some brightly coloured and ornate pots too.

March club night

This months meeting was the Annual General Meeting as well as a short talk from Kit Bowns on his Shohin entry for the Shohin UK II Exhibition 2015 this weekend.
