This months tree of the month was won by a Scots Pine and they owner also brought in two images of the tree in its earlier stages of development to show its progress.
This month was the first tree of the month for this year and it was well attended and in 1st place was a Cotoneaster root over rock, in 2nd place a flowering Crab Apple and in 3rd place was a Hawthorn.
The Club was asked to do a display as part of the School’s fundraising event in support of the Japanese Tsunami Appeal. It seemed like a worthy cause and with an indoor venue and tables supplied by the School it was fairly easy to do. With the Club’s A Team on the beach at Exmouth it fell to Mike, Alex and I to do the work, with me relying on the others for decent trees.
The Tree of the Month Competition is staged at each main club meeting throughout the year with the exception of the AGM and the Christmas Dinner. The objective is to stage a friendly competition between members and to give all members the chance to display trees.
