Another fabulous event as ever, which year on year continues to bring together such a great group of bonsai enthusiasts with such amazing bonsai trees.

The changes over the last 15 years have been incredible, from the humble start in the scout hut in 2011 to now holding one of the most well-attended shows in the UK at Bracknell Leisure Centre, hosting such high-quality club member trees from so many clubs throughout the UK.

Congratulations as always to Mark and Mingchen Moreland for their energy and passion for UKBA and bringing so many people together and for everyone who supported the event in the build-up to the take-down, as it wouldn’t have happened otherwise without you all.

There were 39 supporting bonsai clubs, including our club, and 41 bonsai traders, making it a phenomenal shopping event to buy all things bonsai, and it was great to see so many people engaging with both the bonsai displays and the traders throughout the day.

The atmosphere was abuzz with conversation about trees and bonsai all day; it was a nonstop talking shop about techniques, pots, tree species, styles and the development of bonsai. The club displays were all unique in their approach, with some very individual trees that deserved a closer look due to their intricate design, styling and creativity. The bonsai trees on display ranged from the impressive, yet enormous, Hawthorn on Glynderi’s club display to the range of exquisite tiny trees on Solents’ display.

Congratulations to the South End Bonsai Club for winning the best overall show display. Also to Newbury and South Wales for coming joint second and Berkshire coming fourth.

Looking forward to the next 15 years.
