The bonsai exhibition in China was fun, and well worth the trip and many others from around the world thought so too given the attendees present from Canada, Australia, Tasmania, France, Germany, America and India to name a few of the countries we met people from.

Ian Bayliss donates bonsai trees
Ian Bayliss from Clevedon has kindly donated over 20 trees to the Club Members of Swindon and District Bonsai Society.
A-Z of Outdoor bonsai trees
Here is a quick photographic A-Z of outdoor bonsai trees currently available from Hoka-en Bonsai Studio and Lodder Bonsai bv that we saw on our recent trip showing you the shear diversity of what is now available including some of the new stock that has just arrived.
Acer Palmatum ‘Kiyohime’
This was a tree that was purchased by its current owner in 1980 from Harry Tomlinson as a training piece. It was originally a broom style which was somewhat neglected and in a poor condition at time of purchase.
Tree of the month
This month there were six entries for tree of the month including Korean Hornbeams, Deshojo maple, Chinese Elm, Siberian Elm and a Forsythia. The winning tree was a mame Korean Hornbeam, followed in second place by a Chinese Elm and in third place a Forsythia.
Fun with tree critiques
During the evening meeting there was a critique of club members’ trees for anyone who wanted guidance and to share their thoughts on the development of their trees and the first to share their thoughts was Terry Adams as he discussed his new project, a recently purchased English Elm (Ulmus procera).
