Bonsai exhibitions – a fairer system of awarding prizes

Tonights meeting Part 1 of a talk by Mark and Ritta Cooper on Bonsai exhibitions – a fairer system of awarding prizes. It was a very successful evening with a good range of lively discussion on the topic of judging and some food for thought.

Bonsai World 2015

Sussex Bonsai Group put on another fabulous 2 day show this year at the wonderful K2 Centre at Crawley in West Sussex this weekend. It was a very well attended event with a good programme of events. Clubs @ Roots Bonsai Show

This year it was great to see so many different bonsai trees on display at Roots Bonsai that have not been shown previously or recently making it a great experience to see new interesting species, shapes and styles. Traders @ Roots Bonsai

There were a range of traders at Roots Bonsai Show this weekend including Malcolm Driffield with his Creations in wood, Daniel Butler and his fine art sculpture and ceramics, Bonsai trees Southampton, Dan Barton of Esoteric pots, Bonsai Presentations, Dai-ichi Bonsai and Lee Verhorvoort of LV Bonsai. 

Roots Bonsai Show

This year was another great bonsai show hosted by Newbury & District Bonsai Society at Roots Garden Centre, Hermitage. It was a well attended show from 10am until 4pm with a range of visiting clubs and societies, plus traders and their was space for workshops and demonstrations.

Bonsai display @ Milton Lilbourne

The summer fete at Milton Lilbourne was great fun this year and club members put on a lovely bonsai display for everyone to enjoy. An added attraction this year were camels in amongst the vintage cars, cake stands and so much more. 

Gold medal display @ Chelsea

Rene Lecocq

Rene Lecocq is from Belgium and is well known for his stunning bonsai pots, which apparently he began to create when he started the hobby for bonsai and his love of bonsai and inspiration come through in his pots. Here are a few images of his pots on sale at the Lodder Bonsai Open Weekend.
