1st place, SM Trident Maple

Sally started out with bonsai in 2006 and has been working hard for 11 years to develop her trees and has really mastered techniques like leaf size reduction and ramification on Trident maples and loves to work on them.

Her favourite tree is the Korean Hornbeam and she has a range of these including a tree of most species in various sizes from Mame and Shohin through to Chuhin. Most of her trees have been bought from various sources and she has developed these trees to a very good standard.

3rd place, SM English Elm

3rd place, SM English Elm

She enjoys working with nature and is inspired by seeing trees at shows and in books, plus looking at trees in the wild and the annual trip to Lodder bonsai.

As with everything there is always room to learn more and Sally is keen to continue developing techniques to improve ramification on her Shohin and Mame trees.

Taiwanese Fig

3rd Place – Taiwanese Fig

Her least favourite tree is the Azalea and her first tree was a Taiwanese Fig. She has always admired bonsai, and a friend invited her to a bonsai evening, and it all started from there. When her daughter Amelia went into the tree industry as a career she bought home many trees for Sally to start on. Not all have survived but she still has one or two.
