Mame is a term used to describe very small bonsai usually less than 10 centimetres or 4 inches in height and generally smaller than shohin. They are very cute due to the smallness of size but do require extra care given the size of pot to avoid drying out.

Buying tropical bonsai
Tropical bonsai is great if you want to have a bonsai tree inside as they are able to cope with living indoors due to needing higher temperatures year round. They are often lower in price than some of the other species of outdoor tree so worth considering if you are just starting out in the hobby.

Swindon display @ Roots Bonsai Show

Broadleaves @ Shohin UK II Exhibition
The range of broadleaved trees at the Shohin UK II Exhibition 2015 was broad and diverse and the quality of the trees was excellent. Species ranging from Potentilla, through to Berbers, Gardenia, Zelkova, Chinese Elm, Privet and Quince to name a few.
Evergreens @ Shohin UK II Exhibition
There was a good selection of evergreen bonsai at the Shohin UK II Exhibition 2015 from Junipers through to Black and Red Pines plus Hinoki cypress, Yew and Larch which technically is a deciduous conifer but I have added it into this set anyway.

The Shohin UK II Exhibition did not dissappoint, it was great to see so many wonderful Shohin, Chuhin and a few Mame on display and there were also some beautiful stands, particularly the root stands as well as some brightly coloured and ornate pots too.
