All day, Drop in Workshop on Sat 27th Aug 2022

Some of the members enjoyed an all day, drop in workshop on Saturday the 27th August with Collette Harrison, from Collette’s Bonsai, she used to operate out of Southampton but has now moved south of Salisbury. A trader at many bonsai shows and will be at the New Venue of the ‘Heathrow show’ at the Bracknell Leisure Centre, Bagshot Road, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 9SE. on Sunday the 11th Sept 2022. You can find her tables just inside the main entrance to the show. Thank you to Collette and also to those who brought in something to nibble on during the day to keep our strength up. Wanborough Show update 2022

Well I think that it was Wanborough Show today………. not sure cause there was ‘NO’ rain and it usually does. It was good to see the crowds back and everyone enjoying the nice warm sunny weather. The trees in the marquee had a steady flow of admirers, and a lot of them took the cards with details of the ‘Winter Image’ show in 2023. We had enough room to put up a smaller gazebo so we could work on some trees and gave the visitors something to watch and discuss.

Club Annual Get together

This year, instead of a BBQ it was decided to hold a cream tea party, then all the members can sit around and chat. Well we wanted a dry weather day, but we didn’t expect temperatures of 34+ degrees. We had already put up several gazebos in Reg’s garden, so we had plenty of shade, although a better breeze would have been nice. Thank you to those that supplied extra cakes, I would have taken a photo of the scones with lashings of jam and cream on them………..BUT they were eaten so fast I missed it. Here are some pictures of the members enjoying themselves and also some of the garden, Reg had been very busy polishing everything, thanks to him for the use of his lovely garden.

Next year we need to attract a NEW member into the group who has a large swimming pool for our event, in case it is that hot again……..

A great day out for all the family

Staverton Group Bonsai Boot Sale

A great way to spend a day chatting about bonsai while also perusing the multitude of bonsai sales tables to find some bonsai bargains for all levels of bonsai enthusiasts from beginners through to advanced hobbyists. A big thank you to Tony Oswin and the Staverton Bonsai Group for hosting and organising the event as well as the show sponsors Troll Pots, Spectre Pots and Oakfield Bonsai. It was great to see UK Bonsai Association supporting the show too as well as many well-known traders including Collette’s Bonsai, David Sampson of Fine Japanese Suiseki, Chris Thomas, Daniel Butler of Wood and Clay, Oceana Bonsai, Beechfield Bonsai, Probio Carbon and many more. There were also local and not so local bonsai clubs present and many of their members including some from Swindon including Warminster Bonsai Club, Salisbury Bonsai Society, Surrey Heath Bonsai Society, Middlesex Bonsai Society, Chichester Bonsai society, and Blackmore Vale Bonsai Group.
