Set up for our Show

This year was amazing, the club members and volunteers who helped out on the Saturday for the set up did a great job and everything was in place well before 8pm.

The Arihato Award

Anand Arihato was/is a teacher. He was taken from us too early. That said if you consider his spiritual belief he is still with us, around us or within us. He was (I will use past tense from now purely as I look upon things from a Western perspective) a great believer in knowledge and… Read more »

Andy Jordan wins the Arihato Award

Congratulations to Andy Jordan for winning the Arihato award for his wonderfully displayed chamaecyparis obtusa sekka at this years Swindon Winter Image Show. This tree is probably one of the most striking in the show but it’s real beauty is when you look within the branch structure.

It was a great opportunity at this years Swindon Winter Image Bonsai Show to see a fantastic array of bonsai styles, shapes and sizes as well as a good diversity of tree species. One style that captured my interest was that of the cascade and semi cascade.

Raffle prizes

Club member’s trees

Small trees @ our Winter Image Show

Shohin and Mame were represented well at this years Swindon Winter Image Show and not just as displays but as companion trees to larger trees and as part of club displays too. Here are a selection of the tiny trees that caught my attention at the show.

Arihato award

Kit Bowns is pleased to announce that the inaugural Arihato Award went to John Brocklehurst for his wonderful little Celastrus orbicularis (Bittersweet). It was a close thing with several trees worthy of the award but ultimately it came down to the best tree/pot combination.
