Bonsai exhibition in China Part 2

The bonsai exhibition in China was fun, and well worth the trip and many others from around the world thought so too given the attendees present from Canada, Australia, Tasmania, France, Germany, America and India to name a few of the countries we met people from.

Blachia siamensis

The Blachia siamensis is a species of bonsai tree that was new to me and seen for the first time at the Bonsai Clubs International Exhibition in Guangzhou, China. It was an unusual tree species with some great key features and there were many examples on display to observe and study.

Xylosma japonicum

The Xylosma japonicum was another first for me at the Bonsai Clubs International (BCI) Convention exhibition. This was a first to see the Xylosma (柞木属 zuo mu shu) up close and also used as a bonsai. Shohin trees @ BCI Convention, China

The shohin on display at the BCI convention were excellent and here are some close up images of the individual trees on display. There was a good mix of species, styles and sizes and the overall composition of some of the displays set the trees off to an advantage also.

Baeckea frutescens

Baeckea is a genus of flowering plants in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae. There are about 75 species, of which 70 are endemic to Australia; the others are distributed in New Caledonia and Southeast Asia. This Baeckea frutescens was on display at the Bonsai Clubs International Convention, Guangzhou, China.
