Bonsai odyssey with Kit

Kit started bonsai as a hobby in 2012 and this was the same year he joined Swindon Bonsai Club. His first ever bonsai was a Cherry tree and his favorite tree is the Japanese Apricot the Prunus mume, while his least favourite tree species is Ash.

Fast track to bonsai with Sally

Sally started out with bonsai in 2006 and has been working hard for 11 years to develop her trees and has really mastered techniques like leaf size reduction and ramification on Trident maples and loves to work on them.

Shohin and Mame @Wessex

The winner of the shohin and mame class was Anthony Stribling with his Hornbeam. In second place was Tom Buchanan with his Blackthorn. In third place was Tony Oswin with his Hawthorn.

Arihato Award 2017

Accents @ Spirit of Shohin 2016

In addition to seeing some stunning Shohin and Mame bonsai at the Spirit of Shohin Show at RHS Wisley there were also some creative and colourful accents, amazing bronzes, scrolls and beautiful pots.

Mame @ Spirit of Shohin 2016

This was an excellent collective set of displays of Mame, one of the largest seen in the UK to date, and wonderful to see such extraordinary extra-miniature trees on an impressive tiny scale.

Spirit of Shohin 2016

  What a fabulous spring show of Shohin and Mame bonsai held at a stunning venue too at the RHS Gardens of Wisley. Congratulations to everyone who was part of the show especially Andy Jordan, the exhibitors and traders.

Cascade or not to cascade

It was a great opportunity at this years Swindon Winter Image Bonsai Show to see a fantastic array of bonsai styles, shapes and sizes as well as a good diversity of tree species. One style that captured my interest was that of the cascade and semi cascade.
