Monkaburi (Welcome branch)

Monkaburi is the term used to describe trees with a branch leaning out over a pathway or gateway and this is also referred to as a welcome branch. These are common to see in Japan over doorways and entrances and this is something that can be built into your bonsai design on Pines in particular.

It was first published in 2012 (ISBN 9781907057151) and demonstrates a true dedication to horticulture and conifers by the authors Aris G. Auders and Derek P. Spicer.

The Art of Creative Pruning

If you are looking for cross over of knowledge this is an excellent book that provides details on techniques used in garden sized tree pruning which is also transferable to that of bonsai.

Bonsai L’esprit du pin
