The annual Test Valley Wood Fair held in the woods down in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire on Saturday 1st September 2018 was again a great success and the third year for having a bonsai display in the woods. Eastleigh and Solent Bonsai Societies put on the display of their bonsai trees and they were admired by all who came to the free community event. Collette from Southampton Bonsai was also present for anyone who wanted to start the hobby of bonsai. It is a great family event and there is so much to see and do all day it is well worth a visit.
This is a National Bonsai Event for bonsai trees that have been created strictly from British material trees — nothing from overseas will be exhibited. Anyone is eligible to submit trees for selection for exhibition at the event. Vendors can trade for free on the lawn adjoining the north side of the hall but must first apply to do so.
NOTE…………………. Now FREE entry, see poster below
Yet again a good day at the Wanborough show, blessed with a mainly dry day. It’s always good to pack things away ‘DRY’.

Tonights club night was a buzz with pruning, everyone bought in their bonsai trees to work on and there was a hive of activity and discussion throughout the evening on pruning techniques, styling and how everyone was coping with keeping up watering in this heat wave.
Reg Bolton and his brother Jeff are holding an Open Gardens afternoon, as per the poster above. Both are RHS judges, Jeff specialises in fruit and vegetables, while Reg is of course bonsai.
