Auction in full swing

Todays auction was a great way to start your bonsai year, and it did not disappoint. With over 100 bonsai items in the auction there was plenty to bid on. It was well attended with many bonsai enthusiasts from far and wide across the UK who were there to buy and sell bonsai.

Don’t miss your chance to go to the UK Bonsai Association Auction on Sunday, 27 January 2019Doors open from 11:00 – 16:00 and it is £3 on the door. The auction viewing starts at 11:00, while the actual auction starts at 12:00. To see the full list and photos of the auction items visit the UK Bonsai Association website.

In addition to the auction will be a  display of Suiseki (viewing stones), Saikei (landscape tray plantings) as well as Mame (small ‘bean-sized’ bonsai). The exhibition setting up at 10:00 and the doors open to the public at 11:00.

The event is being held at the Harlington Sports Centre, Pinkwell Lane, Harlington, Middlesex UB3 1PB

We love taking about the weather here in the UK, it is practically a national pastime. I am going to elaborate a little into bonsai, I think it is important to talk about failures, as well as successes. Hopefully we can learn from these experiences and improve. A really important part of bonsai culture is observation. But sometimes things are beyond control. I have always had a thing for Prunus mume, Japanese Apricot or Ume.

Tree of the month takes on a different theme for December in Swindon. The points this month don’t count towards the competitor’s league status; but this doesn’t seem to dampen the competition in any way.
