Todays auction was a great way to start your bonsai year, and it did not disappoint. With over 100 bonsai items in the auction there was plenty to bid on. It was well attended with many bonsai enthusiasts from far and wide across the UK who were there to buy and sell bonsai.
Here is an update to follow on from a recent post from Graham Simpson of Dragonfly Bonsai pots. Graham was kind enough to share his new developments and recent work so here is a sneak preview prior to the Swindon Winter Image Show on Sunday 24th February 2019 when you can see Dragonfly bonsai pots up close on his stand.

Don’t miss your chance to go to the UK Bonsai Association Auction on Sunday, 27 January 2019. Doors open from 11:00 – 16:00 and it is £3 on the door. In addition to the auction will be a display of Suiseki (viewing stones), Saikei (landscape tray plantings) as well as Mame (small ‘bean-sized’ bonsai). The exhibition setting up at 10:00 and the doors open to the public at 11:00.
The event is being held at the Harlington Sports Centre, Pinkwell Lane, Harlington, Middlesex UB3 1PB

He is an importer and retailer of specimen Japanese Bonsai who is based in Kent and will have something for every bonsai tree enthusiast at the most competitive prices.
We love taking about the weather here in the UK, it is practically a national pastime. I am going to elaborate a little into bonsai, I think it is important to talk about failures, as well as successes. Hopefully we can learn from these experiences and improve. A really important part of bonsai culture is observation. But sometimes things are beyond control. I have always had a thing for Prunus mume, Japanese Apricot or Ume.
David Cheshire AKA Bonsaidave joined us for the evening of show preparation. He provided loads of much needed supplies, advice and a van full of Akadama. We really appreciated him visiting and coming along to our club night so, thank you Dave.👍🏻
Tree of the month takes on a different theme for December in Swindon. The points this month don’t count towards the competitor’s league status; but this doesn’t seem to dampen the competition in any way.
The brief (as last year) was to decorate a bonsai with a Christmas theme. Winner gets a prize.
