Terry talks USA

Tonight Chairman Paul, along with Reg proposed their action plan for our upcoming show a week on Sunday. Terry Adams then took centre stage, sharing a few slides and his thoughts about his visits to the Japanese gardens of Brooklyn and San Francisco.

Show preparation

This week, we’ve been designing displays for our upcoming winter show. Setting trees up in this way really makes you take note of the good points, but also the areas for improvement.

January tree of the month

Tree of the month was one of the closest we have had, not just in terms of tree as most were shohin sized, but also in points awarded.

Wiring workshop

Wiring was the theme for this months workshop for our members. Some like it, some loath it. The process can be fiddly and time consuming but learning to do it well can help bring a better structure and a precisely defined look to your trees.

Project trees

Devising a plan, apart from keeping it alive is one of the best things you can do for your bonsai. At our last club meeting we decided to discuss a way ahead for a selection of our trees – I suppose you could consider this as the minutes.

Tokonoma Night

We call it Tokonoma night but as Mr Bailey pointed out these are, quite rightly, three point displays. Three point display night sounds more like something one would do in a car park though so we’ll go with Tokonoma for now.
