These trees will the raffled off at our upcoming show Sunday 23rd February. You have to be at the show and buy a ticket in order to win these great prizes, sourced from Mr Lee Verhorevoort. We hope you win one.
Dan and Cecilia Barton have kindly offered the gorgeous pot as a raffle prize for one lucky winner at our winter show this year. I really enjoy the contrasting colours and fissured texture of this one, can’t wait to see what else he has as he will be trading at our show 😊
The first workshop of a new year. This is the time do essential winter maintenance on bonsai. Removing non-required wire takes time. Structure pruning as an ideal time to see any less desirable branches. I guess you could call it a winter check-up.
This year we decided to have another Christmas meeting, more under the pretext of getting together for some food and a chat, than a conventional meeting.
The Stourbridge society, supported by visiting exhibitions from South Staffs, once again held their small but perfectly formed event.
Just like a bonsai that’s being well cared for…this show keeps getting better, year after year.
We enjoyed another visit to Stourhead, unofficially regarded as the National Trust’s flagship property. Made just a little more famous by Head Gardener, Alan Power annually appearing on BBC Radio 4 to describe the autumn colour. We took the long route, leaving the gardens behind and making our way through the rest of the estate and grounds finding some mature Beech avenues and woodlands, as well as some fascinating really old re-trenching Oaks.
Stourbridge bonsai society’s show is potentially one of the last bonsai shows of this year on Sunday 17th November 2019. So if you still want to get out and see bonsai then it is well worth a visit and you can also stock up on bonsai pots in preparation for your re-potting or future bonsai display pots as Dragonfly Bonsai pots by Graham Simpson will be there again for the third time now.
