John set up a Kifu display that included a Chinese Juniper (Juniperus chinensis itoigawa). It originated from Japan and was in a Walsall pot and he has owned it for 11 years.
As part of the same display he had a Spindle (Euonymus spp.) also from Japan in a Housen pot.

We were delighted to be asked to present our Bonsai at a Japanese themed evening, promoting the launch of the new Lexus UX Hybrid. There was plenty of entertainment on offer.
Mark and Ritta have some stunning trees and this year they did not disappoint with the two main exhibition trees they displayed.
The first was a Mountain Maple (Acer palmatum) from Japan that they have owned for 5 years now since 2014. It was in a Tokoname Shuho pot and had the most magnificent ramification. This tree also won best chuhin in the main competition.
The second tree was an Ezo Spruce (Picea jezoensis) also originating from Japan in a Gyozan pot, which they have owned for 6 years now since 2012 and a superb tree, displayed in style.
Mo presented a Japanese larch group (Larix kaempferi) which was constructed in around 1990 and is in a John Pitt pot and has been in Mo’s ownership for 8 years.
It is with thanks that I write this post to everyone who donated a raffle prize for our Swindon Winter Image Show 2019. Congratulations to everyone who won one of the 32 prizes and who bought raffle tickets. The prizes on offer were superb from bonsai trees to hand made bonsai pots, a group wire tree set, tools, sundries and so much more, thank you again.
Michael exhibited a large Trident maple (Acer buergerianum), which he has owned since 2010 after buying it from a club member and it was in a Chinese pot.
This year the accents followed a theme as spring has come early so many bulbs were in bloom so a very colourful display of accents on show. With over 60 accents throughout the exhibition you were spoilt for choice with selecting a winner and John Trott had the difficult task for this. He sponsors the accent award and was on hand to present the award to John Pitt for his gorgeous composition accent.
Michael presented a mame display made up of 6 of his trees with a bamboo and moss accent. He is a long standing member of Swindon Bonsai Club and has grown most of the mame trees from cuttings since 2014 at this years club show.
Not long now before the next major bonsai show in the UK on Sunday 7th April. So hopefully you are ready for another bonsai extravaganza, and a great opportunity to admire some of the UK’s finest bonsai. There will be a wide range of bonsai traders at the event too so a great bonsai shopping experience as well. Check out their website for more details.
