The Swindon backdrops have to be dismantled and stored, so consist of wooden posts and cloth. A few fabulous trees, meticulously prepared for exhibition were spoilt by their placement in front of posts. The table layout and 6 foot wide cloths lend itself to tokonoma displays within the area given. Something to consider for future shows.

Best Overall Display

The judges this year were Steve McKee and Caz Bonsai who had travelled all the way down south to officiate. Both were displaying fantastic trees but these were not judged and marked on their table species label.

I wouldn’t want to lift it!!

The quality of trees at the Swindon ‘Winter Image’ show was exceptional this year. There were trees from all abilities but all were beautifully presented for display. Lots of thought had gone into accents and scrolls to compliment the overall tokonoma. The Swindon club were joined by 90 club members/traders and Invited Exhibitors to ensure that the 400 visitors could enjoy the show. Lots of quality goods were purchased and even more photographs were taken. Thank you to all those who donated to the raffle. I am still sorting through over 300 photos and more will be added later and the winning trees under a separate post. Thanks go to Andy/Mandy for exceptional photographs considering the problems we had with lighting.

English Elm, Ulmus procera

Twickenham Bonsai Club hosted their annual show today at Twickenham School, it was a great event with some beautiful bonsai trees on display from their club members, and everyone was welcoming and very friendly and there was a lively vibe and atmosphere. It is true that being part of a bonsai club is the best way to learn and this young club has a real passion for bonsai. They set about sharing their knowledge and bonsai trees with everyone and this was evident in a very good quality show. Well done to all those who helped behind the scenes and took part in the show and displayed their bonsai trees for us all to see and admire.
