What an amazing collection of conifers on display at the Heathrow Bonsai Show, it was hard to select a favourite but some did stand out like the Japanese Black Pine from Sutton Bonsai Society to name but one. The range of styles of the Junipers was inspiring, as well as the Yew trees and some of the carving work was excellent. Here are some of the conifers that were on display.
Even though there were only a few Mame on display and given their small size, they stood out and made an impression particularly the mame display itself on the Eastbourne and Wealdon Bonsai Club display. Here are a few images of the Mame bonsai that were on display.
Held on June 14th 2015 in ‘Support of Cancer Research’ this event will be free admission including a number of traders. Steve Tolley has generously agreed to conduct an informal demo and Tony Tickle has been persuaded to donate his magnificent Yew bonsai for an auction. There will also be a tombola draw with loads of prizes, it is hoped that those who attend and are sympathetic to the charity will dig deep and donate to this worthy cause at this unique event.
In addition to some fabulous bonsai trees on display at Heathrow Bonsai Show, there were some wonderful accent plants and here are just a few that stood out…
Autumn colour at it’s best all in one room at the Heathrow Bonsai Show this weekend just gone and the wonderful array of colours from mainly the broadleaved trees on display was fabulous and here is a select of some of the gorgeous colours that were on show.
Ray Ward, Vice Chairman of FOBBS and long time member of Sussex Bonsai Group and the newer Crawley Bonsai Society of whom he was a founder member. The work done for bonsai by Ray was enormous and the enthusiasm with which he threw himself into all he did will be remembered by all who knew him or with whom he came in contact. A man recently recognised on the FOBBS Roll of Honour; he will be remembered for his work and enthusiasm.

Thank you again Mark and MingChen Moreland and all those involved in organising and running the Heathrow Bonsai Show as this was yet another great bonsai show and fun event today. The range of bonsai trees on display was extensive and excellent, with some stunning autumn colour as well as some early winter images.
Dan and Cecilia Barton make wonderful unique pots of all shapes and sizes and no two pots are alike or the same which is fabulous. They have developed various techniques to produce some stunning accent pots with superb glazes making them quite eye catching to say the least and amazing styles and shapes too.
