Mame is a term used to describe very small bonsai usually less than 10 centimetres or 4 inches in height and generally smaller than shohin. They are very cute due to the smallness of size but do require extra care given the size of pot to avoid drying out.
Andrew Prett-Pearson has kindly donated this fantastic and impressive pot for the raffle at our upcoming Winter Show. You will have to turn up on the day and buy a ticket and also be around at lunch time (if you are lucky enough to win) and receive this wonderful prize. Thanks Andy.

Casurarina eqiosetifolia (Australian Pine) is a species that I had not seen before ever as a bonsai and I have yet to see one in the UK either. We came across this species at the BCI convention in China and it certainly made an impression. For details on this species visit: Wigerts Bonsai
This unique pot was made by Stone Monkey and I am sure that everyone will want to own it. This special commemorative pot for Armistice Day 2016 will be travelling with him at each of the bonsai shows that he will be attending this year. He will be selling raffle tickets at £3 each and all monies received will be donated to the Royal British Legion in November 2016. The raffle will be drawn at 11 am on the 11th November 2016.
Tropical bonsai is great if you want to have a bonsai tree inside as they are able to cope with living indoors due to needing higher temperatures year round. They are often lower in price than some of the other species of outdoor tree so worth considering if you are just starting out in the hobby.
This year the following traders have been invited to attend the 2016 Swindon Winter Image Show so hopefully you are ready for a bit of bonsai shopping.
